If I won the lottery fast, I would try to behave differently than everyone else that won the lottery. Many lottery winners have had negative experiences after winning. The worst part of winning a fortune would be the fame that comes with it. Sudden wealth would cause an assault of attention that I would not be equipped to handle. These individuals or corporations would all have convincing reasons on why they should have access to my winnings. Their motives would not involve any benefit to me.

I would gladly pay the taxes if I won the lottery fast. A disgusting sight is to see a lottery winner engage an army of accountants and lawyers to avoid the responsibility to the system that allowed their good fortune to happen. Life’s lottery could have let them be born into a place where such an incredible outcome does not exist. That is not to say that good financial advice going forward is unimportant. Most lottery winners are not equipped to handle the taxing and investment decisions they are going to have to make. The chance to leave a significant estate will be a daunting task for anyone, especially inexperienced lottery winners.

I think the most stunning mistake of past lottery winners is the pursuit of luxury goods. If I buy a big new house with my winnings, I am saddling myself with a huge future burden of not only maintaining the property, but of maintaining the appearance that goes with an excessive property. Automobiles and jewelry also fall into that category.

A life secret that few people recognize is that they are going to live longer than they think. Life Insurance companies have seen this. They used to assume that no one lived past age 100. Now the assumption has been raised to 125. Very few people will be equipped to sustain a comfortable life for 20 or more years longer than their parents. A lottery winner would have the chance to accomplish a comfortable life to an age unthinkable a few years ago.
